Consultation

Linwood
Town Centre

Linwood town centre was a 1960’s purpose-built shopping precinct which Tesco had bought for redevelopment. It was in a state of dereliction and having a detrimental effect on the community.

Our initial role was to undertake community consultation for Tesco in relation to their proposals to demolish the precinct and create a new supermarket with individual shop units and replace the town hall, library and offices for the local Housing Association.

The consultation was extensive and included the creation of a project website as well as running a separate young person’s engagement programme.

Through this process, we built a relationship with a number of community groups including providing support in the initial establishment of the Linwood Community Development Trust.

The Trust has grown to become a driving force for change in the Town, running a number of community enterprises and recently completing a community owned and operated sports facility.
