Consultation

Argyll and Bute
Active Travel
Routes

streets-UK delivered consultation and communications support on a number of Active Travel proposals in Argyll & Bute.

Our activity included preparing project branding and messaging, using traditional and social media to raise awareness, running drop in consultation events and workshops and using Commonplace online portal to enable more remote communities and younger residents to access the information and comment.

We worked with community advocates such as Bute Community Cycling Group and identified behaviour change initiatives with them such as the cycling school bus.  We also engaged with school pupils to better understand barriers to active travel. Over 550 people attended face to face drop in events or commented online.

We tackled challenging elements of the project head on by meeting residents and businesses who were initially negative about proposals.  This mediation role ensured issues were listened to and demonstrated that we were pro-active about mitigation.
