Herring Walk, Castlebay

Herring Walk Plan

The Herring Walk forms a coastal promenade and heritage trail with stunning views across the bay. Coimhearsnachd Bharraidh agus Bhatarsaidh (Barra and Vatersay Community) Ltd is seeking to renovate the path to establish safer routes for cyclists and pedestrians, improving access for all.

The project was initially consulted on in 2020 but was paused.

In February 2024, we consulted the community on the plans to extend and upgrade the Herring Walk.  Thank you to everyone who has given us feedback.

Although the consultation is now closed, information on the proposals is still available to view below.
